Hello, Erickan,

It is used to describe the process of making new games that require firmware 6.00 play on lower custom firmwares, such as 5.00.
Technically, to be short, it means opening the product (game image) so that you have access to compilation parts, then modifying the firmware requirements, and (maybe) adding/replacing some files, and then again - encrypting it back to have a game image that's compatible with older firmwares.

There are programs (not very user-friendly, but working) to do that.
Since 5.50 Gen-D was released, re-encrypting is almost gone from the scene, though is still available.

Please feel free to contact me back should you need further assistance.

Sincerely yours,
